Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel

Hilton San Diego Bayfront was looking for a low energy lighting solution to showcase their lobby lighting feature as well as rooftop lighting that would draw attention from afar, ProCal delivered. The solution for the lobby lighting future included 7000+ nodes individually mapped to the light system manager, behind the 200 existing 3-foot by 6-foot Frosted Panels. The roof detail was illuminated with color changing LED lighting fixtures. The new control system provides custom lighting effects for events and conducts diagnostic scans with alerts for proactive maintenance. Hotel staff can remotely manage, and monitor the rooftop and lobby lighting, and guests can interact with the glass-wall lighting from the bar. This project curated 70% in total energy savings for our client.

San Diego Convention Center

The San Diego Convention Center’s Sails Pavilion is an iconic feature of the San Diego Bayfront. As part of a $33 million full infrastructure renovation, which included the replacement of all 150’ sails, SDCCC needed to upgrade the lighting system, made up of 1000-watt metal halide fixtures. ProCal’s Specialty team provided mock-ups, design, installation and commissioning, completing this project with material and labor under budget. In addition to energy savings, the updated dynamic LED Lighting system is cloud connected, providing remote access for designated SDCCC staff to access millions of color combinations and music-link ability. At reveal, news outlets and key stakeholders gathered for the unveiling of the new Sails Pavilion, where they were presented with a custom light show featuring the dynamic design capabilities.

Coronado Bay Bridge

The San Diego Unified Port District is presently conducting lighting studies in coordination with the California Coastal Commission to establish a lighting system for the Coronado Bay Bridge. These studies are being piloted as a means for a full build out of the bridge. ProCal was the installing contractor for these. Phase one involved 2, 180’ booms operated on land next to a 200-foot bridge pier. Our team provided demonstration, custom fabricated adjustable lighting fixtures, and field findings reports. In phase two, ProCal tested a full lighting system over the water, at Pier 18, 17, 16 of the Coronado Bridge. ProCal is still under contract for this work, providing custom engineering and support. Also, ProCal is installing a wireless network for programming of lighting shows from the base of the dolphin pier.

Downtown San Diego

To help spur economic activity in downtown San Diego, ProCal has installed over 10,000 individually addressable RGB nodes in a light pole to light pole configuration. Each node is capable of over 16 million different colors allowing for each neighborhood to customize their streetscape to any holiday or tribute. Aside from the installation of these controllers and string lights, ProCal installed wireless lighting networks through the means of point-to-multipoint antenna systems. These neighborhood installations are cloud connected, allowing for executive directors from each neighborhood to control their lights on their smart device. ProCal continues to support additional dynamic lighting systems to help activate specific locations in downtown.
